Banyan Tree

Banyan trees are just fun trees to draw. This is one at Wailoa State Park. It's found at one end of the park, where I take Kanoe for a walk and watch people fishing for mullet or papio.

and so is the tree. i've never seen a tree like that (well in person) - i can see why you would want to draw it. just fascinating to look at isnt it? so very different than the trees we have here! as always -amazing drawing - i really like the perspective you chose.

  7. Thanks Tracy, Genine, Nicole, Kathleen, Diane, Mariana, Ronelle, and D! This tree was good practice. It forced me to anticipate intersecting lines since I usually draw freehand and rarely use pencil guides. D, got your mojo back?

  10. Wow! What a gorgeous tree! And you've done an amazing job with it. The line work is excellent, the values are balanced beautifully, and I love all the negative space - especially as the eyes need a little rest after devouring all that fabulous detail.

  11. This is such a beautiful drawing and the banyan is an amazing kind of tree. I've written a novel with the banyan as the central motif - called 'The Justice Tree' so when it's accepted maybe I could use your picture - with permission of course.
