I love the fruits of summer! Last week, I had a juicy pineapple, lychee, longan, and some of these strawberries from Waimea! My friend, Ron of RYH Pottery, made the bowl. He's such a talented ceramist who lives in Volcano. I drew this with my Prismacolor colored pencils on some Strathmore bristol vellum paper, which I find is nice and toothy and takes colored pencil extremely well. This is my homage to the tasty treats of summer.
Whew, I finally redid the strawberry drawing. I wasn't happy with it but I couldn't figure why I didn't like it. I finally darkened the entire thing and feel much, much better. Now, I can move on to the next one! :)
Yuuuum Strawberries, my favourite. A fabulous drawing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Clare! I love strawberries too! Being winter there, do you have them now? If not, I send you my deepest sympathies. :)

ReplyDeleteBeautifully done, Joan. The strawberries made my mouth water.
ReplyDeleteSo pleased I only missed 2 of your posts during my Italian holiday. Like the ceramic colour against the bright strawberries - now in abundance in East Anglia as the season begins.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate and Joan! Means a lot that you've stopped by!
ReplyDeleteJoan ... I am so envious! So you went to England too? Strawberries in Europe! My mouth waters at the thought and my mind traveled there for a split second. :) Welcome home!

ReplyDeleteJoan, I am trying to get my artwork posted on my blogspot. I have tried scanning but that isnt working for me (they are not showing any detail). Most are pencil and charcoal. I have a good camera, but I am unsure of the best way to use it. Do you have any suggestions?
ReplyDeletethanks...Tina
