"Daily drawings and paintings by Joan Yoshioka"
Is anyone like me? Do you pick up interesting and sometimes dead things to take a closer look later? When I saw this while walking around the neighborhood, the biologist in me instantly thought, "Oh goodie!" I also picked up a fluorescent blue fly and a penny! I'm such a nerd and I can't help it!

I have a small dead bee collection... along with a couple of other things like cicadas and moths! :)
Great drawing too!
I am so glad I'm not the only one Angie! Thank you!
i love that drawing joan
Awesome - both drawing and subject.
Thanks Heather, Joan and D!!!
D, I thought of you when I picked up my little finds. I knew you'd be doing the same and we'd be checking them out together. Thankfully, the friend I was walking with is a biologist too so she was just as interested. I mean, who goes around picking dead things up?!? LOL
I liked it's very real !! great texture
Remember, nerds rule Joan. Take pride in your nerdishness. Just look at the results!! :)
And she struck quite a pose for you!
Oh Joan, when I saw the thumbnail on FB I thought it was pen. You've achieved some serious accuracy with the pencil. Ugly beast. Gorgeous work.
Oh, dear, yes. Only a week ago, I picked up a gorgeous (though, sadly, dead) woodpecker so I could draw it. Some people think this is weird. Go figure. But I like your creature, and I do not think it's weird that you picked it up.
A beautiful drawing! I have also drawn some dead insects I've come by over the years...we can be nerds together. lol
Beautiful drawing! This is a really, really good drawing! I love the shading...and even though I don't like bee's that much (I know..I am scared of them-AND ladybugs!!) I still think this is a great drawing!!! I don't come across dead things much but when I do I usually draw them as well!!! :)
Beautiful artwork here! I find pieces of wood that look like animals and make little glass eyes for them! Is that nerdy?
Continued success!
Me too, I love the drawing, all the detail and hairy bits.
I have lots of dead creatures, a dragonfly, bees, butterfly and beetles in jamjars....but I keep it a secret...others don't understand!
Great drawing.
millyx
guilty as charged :-)
and guess what? its a good thing. nerds unite.
i've actually got a wasp on the floor here next to my drawing table (didnt notice him til the other day... musta been here before all the snow!) - i may have to draw him :-)
I am so glad to hear that we're nerds together! Thanks for your wonderful comments everyone! :)
Wonderful detail in your drawing! You are not the only one, I get so excited when I find a dragonfly so I can get a closer look at its amazing wings.
i heard that fly is very clean actually, people consider it dirty just for the reason that it always stays in the dirty places, right?
LOL, sure. Curious people are - curious!
Good job! Thank you for sharing.
