Hi everyone!
Hi Everyone! *WAVING* I've been feeling like you are all getting to know me through my drawings and I really haven't made much effort to show myself. I always figured that my art should reflect me. But, having "met" other bloggers and knowing what a huge difference it is to know what they look like, I figured what the hell. So, here I am ... SO THERE!
It is a little nerve-wracking but quite liberating to tell you the truth.
I really must thank Karen Opp, of natur_illustration for inspiring me to share myself with you all. She is working on a 365 photo journal of herself, in part to explore the side of her that is hesitant to be in front of a camera. As she says, "Nothing like putting yourself out of your comfort zone in front of a bunch of people." She's awesome ... and her photos are awesome!
(Photographing oneself is a very good exercise ... I discovered one of my eyes is really bigger than the other. Strange I never noticed that before. Alas, I am beginning to love my imperfections).

Pretty much exactly as I pictured you - friendly smile and all!
Thanks Ryan. *waving*
Oh, my gosh! Thank you so much for this! And you are beautiful- which is no surprise, because it just beams out of your artwork. ;-)
Thanks Karen! It means a lot to me. And thank you again for being an inspiration and for making me see that EVERYONE is beautiful! :) You're the best!
Ewwww.... Take it down...please. LOL! Just your little bro bustin' your chops. I kind of knew about your eye thing, but I didn't want to mention it. Goodness,I'm getting mellow in my old age. Either that or some damn fine phamaceuticals. LOL
Ooops. Forgot to mention that you still have that sweet smile you had when you were young. Bruce
Hey Bruce, did Shannon make you write that last part? LOL
Nice one Joan. You look very pretty! Wish I could see more of your outfit. I am sure you will enjoy shopping when you come to visit.
Hi Kate, I already decided to bring my big suitcase so I can go on a shopping spree! lol.
How Cool! This is so incredibly friendly! *Waving back*! Thanks for sharing this pic with us! :)
Hi Wendee! Thanks for stopping by *waving back*! I wish I could be creative enough to create a avatar like yours. I've always liked it's asymmetry, plus you have such a happy smile. Makes me know you are a beautiful and cheery person. Maybe someone can take one for me! Thanks again! :)
Hey, you're so CUTE Joan!!! Your beauty shines through your art... and your smile! =)
Aww, thanks Jennifer! You made me blush!
I love it! I think it's great. So many people are shy in front of a camera, which cracks me up, because we all go outside every single day and EVERYONE SEES US!!! LOL. You look great, Joan! ;))
You are a beautiful woman, Joan! I always appreciate when other bloggers share a part of themselves through their blogs because it makes the connection to their work more personal too. And you DO have a lovely smile...it lights up your face ~ :)
How is Mamo doing these days?
I love you. That's all I want to say.
Suzanne, thanks! Yes, I wondered why I am so self conscious and a lot of it has to do with being accepted. I consider you all my friends and well, what you think matters! It is an interesting nature of us humans, huh?
Serena! Thank you so much! Yes, that connection between who we are and our art is so important. *smiles*
Cade ... I love you too Sweetie!
So nice to meet you :) I know exactly what you mean. For the longest time I wished to remain "faceless" as well. But there really is something special with putting a face to a drawing...especially one as sweet as yours!
Yes, I felt the same thing Suzanne. But after seeing your wonderful wedding pics, I am totally thrilled you shared! Feels like I know you!
Nice to see your pix. It is fun to see how fellow bloggers look.
I haven't visited for a while, and was delighted to see the real you! Thank you - I love imagining a face with your artwork.
