Starfruit study

I know a soon-to-be 4 year old that picks starfruit right off my tree and scarfs it down in no time. The evidence is the huge juice stain down the front of his shirt. To see absolute joy in eating, is to watch him eat one of these. This watercolor is larger than usual, about 6.5" x 8.5". I did it for a watercolor class last year. In an effort to force myself to set aside time to paint, I had to pay someone to make me! So, in response, I moved to a small artcard format so I could paint everyday! Suffice it to say, I'm much more relaxed these days.

People actually grow these? In their yard no less! I've only seen this fruit in the supermarket -- I sort of dismissed it as just another strange thing the grocery people used to add some exoticness to the plain old lettuce and bananas.

Like how this one is nice and light.

Thanks d. You should try one next time you see it in the grocery store. But it's best sun-ripened in rich soil ... crunchy and juicy! You should see the other strange fruit in my yard. I'll paint them so you can see! :)
