Mauna Kea and `io

pen & watercolor, 2.5"x3.5"

While my sister-in-law and I were picking liko for Christmas wreaths this past December, we were treated to a gorgeous view of Mauna Kea with its white snow cap and a majestic `io (Hawaiian hawk) circling overhead. Hawai`i no ka `oi!

Wow, Joan - that's beautiful! The kids and I feel quite connected to the `io, seems like there's some connection there with Charlie...and this painting captures some of what we feel. Thanks for posting!

Mahalo Nui Loa Sharon! It was such a beautiful morning and when the `Io flew by as if in greeting, I teared up! I love mornings like that!
