Illustration Friday: Heavy

When things are weighing heavy on your mind, what do you do?

This past week, I got news that my 14-year old cat, Mamo, has cancer and doesn't have much time left with me. So I pray, sit quietly, walk in nature ... and lean on my friends. Counting my blessings comforts me too.

Kate Rietz dedicated this week's Illustration Friday post to us and sent wonderful thoughts our way. Check it out! The girl looks just like me and well, the cat is a little bigger than Mamo, who is a mere 7.5 lbs. LOL Thanks for your well wishes everyone! Mamo is resting comfortably and is enjoying being spoiled. She gets hugs whenever she wants ... and even when she doesn't! :)

Joan -- I am ever ever so sorry -- Our pets, like our friends, become family and it's so difficult to see them suffer .. I am so sorry, cara....

Thank you everyone! Your words of comfort mean soooo much to me. I feel honored to have you all as friends. Mamo thanks you too. And thank you to my sweet and encouraging brother for pointing out she has "man hands." I did notice that but it would take a brother to tell it like it is. Gotta love him. Heh.

((((Joan)))), I'm so very sorry to hear this sad news about Mamo. Your drawing conveys emotion and sadness and I can imagine how tough it must be for you right now. Keeping you in my thoughts and I hope Mamo is comfortable and not in too much pain. ((((Mamo))))

Your art is beautiful, Joan. Our cat, Phoebe was also diagnosed with cancer with a few months to live. She lived for three more years and was a happy cat! One never knows. We love our cats, don't we?!

Aw, I'm sorry. It's hard to be a god cat mom sometimes. Your kitty looks like my Sophie who went to cat heaven just a year ago. I miss her lots, but I do have a new kitty who is a joy in her own way. Hugs from someone you don't even know.

Awww, hope the kitty is OK. This is so sad to see, but unfortunately part of life. At least your cat is in good hands and is love. I wish you all the best Joan and in the meantime, you did a remarkable job with the "heavy" theme.
