Day 18 of 21: Tropical paradise

Inspiration sometimes comes from weird places. When I was at a meeting at Harold L. Lyon Arboretum in Manoa Valley this past week, I happened to find this tiny vase of beautiful tropical flowers in the bathroom. I thought it was such a lovely touch that the garden staff would decorate the bathroom with pretty flowers from the grounds of the arboretum. So, I had to rush off and find my camera. I can not tell you how many funny looks I got when I grabbed my camera and rushed off to the bathroom. Goodness knows what they were thinking!

This is gorgeous Joan! Lots of interesting shapes and textures... no wonder you wanted to capture it! Eh, I get funny looks all the time when I take pics - either for artwork reference... or even if I just want to remember how good a plate of food looked like at a restaurant! hehehe

Knock knock! Joan, are you still in there?
Oh - it was from a photo! A beautiful drawing that must have taken you ages - at least it would have taken me ages!

A brush with color ... Yeah, I could hear my friends snickering! lol It was pretty funny.

Kate ... These are gingers that grow well in Hawaii. They're not native, but still very pretty. Thanks!

JC ... I'm glad that I'm not the only one! I take my camera everywhere! Another thing we have in common! Thanks!

Margaret Ann ... Thanks! Colored pencil makes everything so graceful and beautiful, don't you think?

Ellen ... Thanks so much!

Casey ... LOL! Well, it took me two tries to the bathroom to document the bouquet well enough that I was content. Hehe, plus, there was NO WAY I was going to do it on site. hehe. That would have been pretty funny.

Kazumiwannabe ... Mahalo! Thanks for visiting! :)

The aboretum toilet story gave me a good laugh to start my day - but well worth the 'looks' as the resulting painting is delightful.
