Still life goes on
Ever get the craving for a splash of color and the feel of paint brushes in your hand? I got the craving last night and started this painting of some fruit I pulled from my fruit basket. I probably overworked the colors ... but I had fun putting glaze over glaze over glaze. The entire time I could smell the ripe fruit and already took a bite of the one on the left and alas, it is no more. Thanks for stopping by!

I know that craving to get out the brushes and create colour. Loved the layered glaz effect. With all the work I have had to create this summer to a given theme or venue, I can't wait to simply play this coming autumn/winter when I allow myself to just enjoy and have fun.
What a lovely contrast to your expert pencil and pen work.
Oh wow! This is really gorgeous, Joan!! The colors of the fruit carry a strong impact against the white cloth. You are so talented! Nice to see you doing watercolor again.
Thats fantastic. I wish I could work with color. Maybe someday I will take a class...until then...I will just keep on smudging *lol*. Your fruit is making me hungry. Great Pic Joan!
This is really good! I love the colors you used! :) I am terrible at watercolor-tried it once and failed miserably, and I "gave it up"-which is quite unlike me to give something up. Keep up the good work! :)
Joan ... It is such a joy to paint with abandon, isn't it?
Kate ... Thanks, I realized how much I missed it once I put paint to paper.
Tinky Tina ... Thanks! I would love to see you work with color. I know you'll be a natural.
Al ... You must try it again! It's so fluid and easy to clean up! And compact! LOL Come on! We gotta draw together!
Oh, what a treat to see this this morning... Thank you.
Thanks Liz! That means a lot to me. :)
I love what you've done here, it's gorgeous Joan!
I know...I think I'll get a blog sometime soon! :) I still need to get that sketchbook I've been talking about...problem is, I'm don't have my drivers licence yet- (suprised I'm not older! :) ) so I have to get my dad or mom, or brother or sister to take me. :) I know, I'm only 14! (chuckle) so I hope you don't mind that I'm "commenting" because I'm a 14 year old girl! I think I'll try watercolors again...I don't know...it just that I can't get it to work and all my colors run toghether! But I still think you did a fantastic job on the fruit. :)
Mahalo Mariana! :) Hope all is well in France and that you're well enough to walk about for all your inspiration for your artwork!
Al ... LOL What? I thought you were a middle-aged guy! haha. No silly! I love that you stop by my blog and I am honored! I think you really should get that sketchbook and watercolors and I'm not kidding, we should draw together! Obviously you love art ... and I did as well when I was your age (I'm probably older than your parents!). Let me know when you get your art things and start your blog.
bonjour Joan! An much better and walking around (only a bit of a limp) though I don't need to when I can pop by here for inspiration :)
Great title! Your still life is appealing too - crisp, clean.
Thanks Sherry! I love when titles pop into my head like that! That's how I got my blog name. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the comment! :)
phenominal!
