EDM Challenge #136 - Draw a living thing

Mamo means yellow in Hawaiian and is also the name of an extinct black forest bird. Mamo is also my cat that has yellow eyes.

What started out as a doodle, ended up being quite an involved drawing. I guess such is the nature of things when drawing fur as Juj ("Hey Juj"; formerly "Everything is Contextual") can probably attest. She is the mistress of fur in my book. Check out this post.

Mamo is so relaxed! He is gorgeous!!! What a fine drawing with all the pen lines. Must have taken you some time to do>

Thanks everyone. It did take a bit of time but I'm glad I finally got over my cat-drawing phobia and drew her. If Mamo were human, she's be feeling slighted since my dog, Kanoe, seems to get all the attention. :)

Oh my goodness! That fur is stunning! It looks like I could reach out and pet him...

Well, I'm embarrassed! (that missing red flower is on my face now - lol) I was so busy devouring the lines in Mamo's fur I completely missed the part about me! Thank you SOO much Joan, but honestly, if I'm the mistress of fur you are definitely the MASTER. (and yes, I completely agree - there is no way to draw fur without becoming entrenched...)

Wow, what an incredibly amazing drawing of a cozy cat... I can almost feel the warmth and hear the purr! And I´ll be damned if that allergy isn´t starting to tickle my nose too! A great drawing!

Hi Joan I love this adorable kitten! I like the Canson paper, but it doesn't like my charcoal pencils or sticks..Im just learning about different papers etc..It is a lot toothier, if that is the correct term, than my regular sketch pad..other than it being HUGE I like if, it blends well

Thanks Tracy! Mamo is now 14 years old so she's slowing down a bit and enjoys her days on my bed. So, it makes her a great subject!
