Illustration Friday - Stitch

These are my jammie shorts that I thought would be perfect for this week's Illustration Friday theme because it has stitches that make the seams pucker ... like a searsucker pucker!

Excellent drawing! Cute dog! Lucky you to be living in Hawaii!

This is very realistically rendered. You handle the folds and the shadows masterfully. And drawing plaid is just plain hard! I'm shivering just looking at those shorts though, since lately my sleep attire haas involved long flannel pants and two shirts layered!

Joan, these shorts are awesome! Of course I am jealous that you live in Hawaii. Even living in California, we can't wear shorts all the time! That's not the only reason I envy you living in Hawaii though. . . ; >
Nice job on the drawing, as always.

WOW...they actually have a soft, crumpled feel to them and the doggie motif is so cute...great job, Joan!

My forehead got all crinkled and my jaw dropped a little when I saw this drawing....Joan, I am so impressed! I KNOW you are talented, and I have seen what you can do, but this drawing of a pair of shorts really showcases your range. Fabric, plaid, elastic, folds and hems can all be difficult, but I can identify right away that this is a pair of soft, worn shorts with a drawstring. It realy does look like one could just pick them up and put them on!!! Awesome! (And the doggie patch looks like Kanoe)

By the way, I think I like your graphite work the best!

Wow Joan! I knew you were a fabulous artist when you illustrated the two books, but wow, the shorts are amazing. The kids all say hi... and so do I. Get in touch with me and let's catch up. I'd like that. And Gracie isn't my real name. Can you guess who I am?
Ciao
I've missed you.

Oh my, I can't believe I haven't thanked you all for leaving such wonderful comments. Unfortunately, it's been so cold I've needed to wear flannel at night!

Thanks Kate ... it does look like Kanoe, doesn't it?

Thanks Andrea ... it's the brand, called Big Dog, I think. I've had these shorts for years and yes, they are soft and comfy like shorts ought to be. :)

"Gracie" ... Thanks, yes, I know who you are. :) I'll be in touch.

Just coming back to see who the little dog was! I'm glad you cleared that up for me, although I still like to think he is a tiny little dog walking across your shorts. Like a little Nintendog that's just escaped from your DS (that's if you have them in US?).

Your recent drawings are amazing, Jo. They get better and better. loving your bags (of course!). I will email/Facebook you very soon. Sorry I haven't been in touch for a while. No excueses, I've been a bit rubbish. Hope everything's good in Jo-world. xxx
