Nene ("Neh-neh") Goose
Ok, I've got it all worked out. I downloaded a DVD decoder so I can finally watch DVDs on my computer again. So, that now means I can do four things at once while at my desk. I can draw from my reference photos on my computer, watch my movie (Panic Room is great, btw ... LOVE Jodie Foster), eat my dinner, and email friends! Now, how's THAT for efficiency!?!
This is a nene goose (pronounced "neh-neh") that belongs to a flock that hangs out at Wailoa State Park. They're endangered but thankfully, well on their way back to stable numbers. They love native ohelo berries (drawn here).

Just wonderful Joan! I wanted to sketch one of these but never saw one. Happy to hear they are coming back.
okay, that's more multi-tasking than i can handle. for you, though, it doesn't seem to throw you as this sketch is wonderful.
very nice :) loved the shorts too! For me multi tasking is working on 4 projects at once...and getting absolutly nothing done ...Great job Joan....*hugs* tina
Thanks D. Thought I'd try a different background this time. :)
Teri ... Thanks! They only recently began hanging out in Hilo! That would have been a sight for you and your family! :)
Karen ... LOL. I tend to do about 3 things at once at any one time. That is why I have had to turn on the timer every time I cook because I am usually off to do other things. :)
Hey Tina! Thanks! I try to get things done but I can't say that it happens 100% of the time. Thanks for visiting! *wink* :)
Oh, very nice goose Joan! You are a pro! Once again you show us your true talent.
Wish I'd read this post last night - opened the post, went to put some chai on the stove, called my sister, got sidetracked by the conversation and the pan boiled dry...spent the night trying to salvage my pan instead of reading the part about setting the timer when you cook!
Great sketch Joan! It's fun to actually see a Nene - the sum total of my experience with them is "6. down: 4 letter word for Hawaiian bird"
Wonderful sketch! Your work is fantastic! I wish I could multi-task as well as you. =)
Thanks Kate :) You are always so supportive. I really appreciate it.
Juj ... LOL. Sounds like we have some of the same qualities! I think there is just too many things to do in a day! Heh, funny comment about crossword puzzles. Glad to help out. :)
Jennifer ... I'm not sure if multi-taking is a good thing or not but it is the only way I can get things done! Hey, btw, we enjoy the same movies. I love Outbreak ... no one believes me that it's really a love story. *smirk*
Joan, at least you can get things done! multi-tasking just gets me confused. Yes, Outbreak is a love story... like... "The Notebook". Sure. =)
Jennifer ... did I mention somewhere that I watched The Notebook two nights ago? LOL. Yes! I totally agree! :)
LOL! No, I did not see it mentioned. It's just one of two of the most romantic movies ever made.
The other is Outbreak. hehehe
Jennifer ... How funny is that? I TOTALLY agree with you about Outbreak and The Notebook! And tell me, Star Wars original or Star Wars updated?
Fabulous drawing!!!

Joan, Star Wars original for me... and "original" original... not the DVD enhanced versions. =)
You girls and your multitasking skills. This makes me wanna buy the Sketchbook Moleskine again--love the way drawings look in 'em, including this beauty.
Thanks Anita ... :) I think your last self portrait is pretty fantastic too! :)
Hi Anon (Muslim Artist)! Thanks for stopping by and for your generous comment.
Jennifer ... You KNOW I totally agree with you. Original all the way. I think Steve (below) would agree.
Steve ... With all the work you do, I suspect you're a great multi-tasker (for a guy) LOL *kidding!* Hey, I found another Star Wars fan!
AWESOME drawing, Joan! I love your cross-hatching ~
Very nice sketch and the entire layout and design is done well also.
