Mouth watering

Ohelo berries are related to blueberries! I drew this quick sketch of my favorite plant at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and colored it when I got home. The wonderful thing about these berries, besides being delicious for us humans, is they are food for endangered nene (neh-neh) geese that live in the area.

Thanks Kate - I love blueberries too! These are just as good.

Tracy - Ok, I'll be sure to draw one soon.

Andrea - Have I developed a style yet?

Hey D ... I usually eat them but not yesterday. According to park rules, we're allowed to pick them for ourselves but not to sell. But, it's customary to offer some to Pele, the Goddess of Fire, before partaking any by throwing some into the crater with a little prayer. I just didn't have enough time for that.

Thanks for your comment about my style. :) Made me smile.

My favorite part is the perspective - ever so slightly moles-eye, strongly foreshortened - it really strengthens the composition and your eyes can't help but be drawn back to those beautiful berries.
