Waiting on the world to change

Ah, it is so nice to be home! I spent the week at an excellent grantsmanship workshop on Oahu. And while staying in Waikiki was nice, I sure missed you all! John Mayer's song, "Waiting on the World to Change" ran through my mind the entire time I sketched this view from my rental car while waiting for my class to begin today.

Very nice Joan. You make even the most common images seem interesting.

Oh, this is BRILLIANT, Jo. Really excellent. I've often tried to do this kind of drawing - while waiting in the car. It never really works for me. You've inspired me to give it another go (in black ink). This is one of my faves of yours. In fact I'm off to Flickr right now...

Joan, you amaze me! That same scene would feel daunting to me. I wouldn't know where to start which begs the question....where did you start? ;) You have captured perspective and detail perfectly.

Kate ... Thanks dahling ... :)

Andrea ... You SHOULD have another go at it! Thanks for the fave too!

Ryan ... Thanks for the comment. It really is nice to be home ... so I can check out your artwork. *wink*

D ... Thanks! This is the parking lot at Kapiolani Community College. It's a beautiful campus.

Anita ... Mahalo Nui Loa! :)

Serena ... Hmmm, I started with my dash and steering wheel, then on to the building and then the cars. I just drew it rough in pen and then filled details. Thanks for your kind comments ... and for ignoring all of my mistakes. :)

Mellanie ... Thanks! Normally I don't tackle something this complex but I was so antsy, not having drawn all week that I jumped right in. Thanks for the award!! It's beautiful!

This is SO good! I couldn't help trying to guess all the cars on the parking lot: i think it was a Chevy Malibu right in front of you, and a recent Civic (four door) further.
I love this. Whenever i try to do something like this, i screw up everything.
