"Daily drawings and paintings by Joan Yoshioka"
Children are the coolest beings. Their sense of wonder and excitement over the smallest things is fascinating to me. Here, a friend's son is watching his sister dig a hole in utter fascination. lol.

Joan, what an adorable sketch! I love the way he is looking down.
This is awesome, Joan! And the hatch marks around him add playfulness and movement to the piece. Very sweet.
Thanks Teri, Kate, and D! I really enjoyed drawing my friend's son. He's such a cutie pie.
How Excellent! Cute child, challenging angle and so very well drawn!
This one's excellent, Joan. Did you go directly with pen? I love the shadow on his left cheek. It's hard to draw kids and not make them tacky. You managed to avoid that 100%.
Thanks Seesue and France!
France ... Yeah, I've been going straight to pen for all of my stuff these days. Like you, I'm trying not to take myself too seriously ... which in all honesty, I do waaaaay too often. Heh. :)
I LOVE what you've done here. All those extra lines...wow...the patterning...it really adds to the composition.
Absolutely gorgeous Joan, so clever!
Thanks for stopping by Suzanne and Anita! You made me smile!
oh - very nice! i love that penwork and its a tough perspective you were working from - hard especially with a child's face.
