A blessing

Once in a great while, we are blessed with the truest of feline companions. Mamo, my friend for over 14 years passed away on Friday. She was the sweetest cat ... but she was no pushover. She managed to survive the loose dogs on Molokai, traffic on Oahu, and lived the rest of her life in peace on the Big Island. I buried her under a large `ohi`a tree in Volcano, under flowering gingers ... in a warm afternoon shower.

I am so sorry, my friend. I cannot imagine losing a friend like that after such a long time. :(

Thanks Ryan! Mamo was definitely special. She was the kind of cat that never scratched and actually loved to have her belly rubbed! Thanks again for your sweet words.

Oh, so sad Joan. Having a pet like this is like losing a child. This is a beautiful drawing of her and you really tranlated her personality so well.

Thanks Teri! I'm really glad that I got to spend 5 extra months with her. She wasn't expected to live for more than two! Yes, I've had her for most of my adult life so we shared a lot. Thanks for your words of kindness.

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news, Joan. Even though it was expected, it doesn't make the loss any easier to bear. Mamo was a beautiful cat and will live on in your heart. My thoughts are with you ~ (((Hugs)))

Thanks Serena. Mamo lasted five months longer than the vet predicted so I am grateful for the time. Thanks my friend!

So sorry Joan. I know the past several months were difficult. Losing a beloved pet is like losing a best friend. You know I am here if you need to talk about it.

I'm living with a feline blessing right now and definitely don't want to think about losing him! A feline friend is a friend like no other. I am sorry to hear about Mamo. It sounds like you have given her a beautiful resting spot. Good luck working through the grief and just know that she will always be with you (even if you can't pet her soft fur).

I'm so sorry to hear this, Joan. Like what Loni Edwards said about her acro-rat, I hope Mamo is also playing at the rainbow bridge with the rest of our dear sweet pets that have gone there.

Oh gosh, Joanie. I'm so sorry I didn't know about this earlier. Sorry, I haven't been very good blogfriend lately. All my love.

Gorgeous drawing.

She is so pretty and I know you will miss her. We lost our Lil Kat, who outlived the vet's prediction by 4 years! I still haven't drawn her since then, but you inspired me to do so. If you can, I can certainly give it a shot!
