Bougainvillea (EDM #76 - Flowers)
This bougainvillea is the most tenacious pest in my yard. It is the ultimate weed: it grow inches by the day (well, that's what it seems to me), it has a root system that grows in rock so it grows just about anywhere, it has thorns that grab me as I walk by, no amount of cutting or herbicide has killed the plant ... and it is so beautiful, I feel a pang of guilt every time I cut it back. So I decided if I can't kill it, I'll draw it!

Oh....such trouble in paradise! Some weeds are just too pretty to kill, and we could take a lesson in persistence from them! (glass half full)
I totally agree! Persistence is a great human trait that gets us through the rough spots ... and keeps us marching forward. Thanks for the comment! :)
Of course, the results are great.
Does the "personality" that we infuse in our drawings proportional to how much we love the subject? I think it might be.
It looks like a flower to me...I'd leave it!
even your weeds are pretty! lovely drawing
Good point France. More to ponder on ...
Hey Suzanne, yeah, they are too pretty to cut. But dang, those thorns hurt!
Hi Tracy, not all weeds are created equal, I suppose LOL.
Of course where I live people flock to the nurseries each spring to buy bougainvillea, and then drive themselves nuts trying to make this "weed" take hold so it will survive the winter. location, location, location....
Beautiful drawing Joan.
I'm a bit of a weed lover too. My burden is thistle, soooo beautiful and such a PAIN!
Beautiful sketch.
Great sketch! I had no idea they were so troublesome. I have only seen pictures and they look wonderful. My bain is morning glory, or around these parts, bindweed. Nothing kills it!
This is gorgeous. So clean, so lovely.
