EDM #24 - Piece of fruit

I love papayas! They grow on trees in my front yard although I bought these particular ones at the local Farmer's Market yesterday. These are wonderfully sweet and very appropriately called "Food of the Angels." I'm off to have my papaya snack!

Great drawing Joan. Love the way you blended the colors on your papaya.

They grow in your garden? I wish! Here is the southern part of Australia the pawpaws in the shops have no taste. In Fiji, we lived on them. They were the first fruit given to babies.

Hey Shannon - Thanks! hellos to baby bro and the kids.
Irene - Thanks for stopping by
Wendy - I guess papayas are revered fruit in many places.
Karen - Thanks, I think I have about 5 colors in the shadow. I was experimenting. :)
Anita - Yes, papayas require and acquired taste, me thinks.
M - Coming from the colored pencil guru herself, it means a lot. Thanks!
D - Thanks. Those are such kind words :)

Wow, Joan, this is such nice colored pencil work here! Love all the colors int he shadows, and the way you rendered the flesh and the seeds.

Papayas imported into the midwest are pretty tasteless. I have never really had a good one. I imagine it must be wonderful to go outside and pick your own starfruit, peaches and papayas whenever you are craving something healthy!

Thanks Teri and Kate! It IS nice to be able to pick fruits from the yard. The tangerines are ripening as we speak and some mountain apples are ready for the picking! Maybe I'll draw those soon!

Great sketches you've been doing...I missed out on a lot.
I love your papajas, they look tantalizing and speak of warm summer days.

oh this is very pretty - i love the composition and the shape the shadows take on as well as the color! and i cant imagine having those kinds of fruits growing right in my yard. must be like paradise! (in VA we get your basic :-) - nothing nearly as exotic)

Thanks for your comments Ronell and Tracy! I kinda wished I had spent more time on the composition but I did have lots of fun with the colored pencil ... both fun and tedious at the same time!
