IF - Discovery (7th Fact)

Fact #7: I have a little wooden box that I fill with my little found discoveries, treasures, and mementos.

Many of these objects are things I've had since I was a little girl. Some, more recent. Some, mementos from past relationships, some gifts, some discovered on walks. Most just reminders of people I've known or places I've been. All memories I hold dear. Check out the notes on my Flickr post for info about some of these.

Oh Joan I love your box of discoveries!
Such a fabulous sketch, great composition, I really felt as though I was sifting through your memories (I'm nosey so I enjoyed that feeling. ;) LOL!)

I love this collection and got a kick out of reading every note on Flickr. And i assume the bill on the top left corner is... Greek money perhaps??!
Great treasure box you have, and i love how there's an angle to this drawing.

Anita - "sifting through memories," yes, that's what it feels like when I go thru my collection.

Mariana - Thanks, I think what people collect tells you a lot about them. :)

Stangy - Have a great trip down memory lane.

France - Yes, it is Greek money! I also had a lot of drachma coins but decided I was not in the mood to draw all those elliptics. LOL.

Arty - Much thanks!!

Thanks Eileen, you're a collector of found things just like me. You should check out DRB's blog "Daily Art (mas o menos)". He's one of us.

Hey D, hope you'll consider drawing your Grandfather's box and its contents!

Arxo - LOL. You're a discoverer!

Thanks so much Tina!

Hi Joan, I have a collectiom like this. Or, should I say, many? I used to keep them all in a box. Now a have a few little treasure boxes from different "eras" of my life. So I can relate! I think most people have some sort of little box of stuff somewhere.

Thanks for stopping by everyone! I didn't realize that there ARE a lot of people that collect memories. Since they are a window to who we are, I think it would be great if more people drew things in their memory boxes. That would be awesome!

Wow! This is wonderful, and the enlarged version really shows the detail nicely.

I have a box of treasured memories too, however, I doubt I'd have the patience to sit down and draw them like you have, Joan. Wonderful sketch!
